Hey PFC!

Every now and then we have a Sunday morning message that is especially definitional to where we currently are and where God seems to be leading us as a congregation. April 29 was one of those Sundays. It is always a loss for those people who miss one of these services. While we can’t re-create the moment, we do have the audio recording of the messages so that people can at least hear what was said. It’s Time for Another Family Night!

Family Volleyball Night will be held on Friday, May 18 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The night will start with a cook-out. Burgers and hot dogs will be provided. Everyone is asked to bring food to share and beverages. Please bring lawn chairs as well.

Outdoor volleyball will be played, weather permitting, and a Kids Scavenger Hunt is planned. There will be other activities and opportunities for socializing, so plan to come even if you don’t “do” volleyball.

Help setting up the volleyball net, tables, and grill is needed. Volunteers are also needed for the kids’ games, nursery, and to function as chaperones. Contact Chuck Sheaffer (610-326-6028) to volunteer or for more information.

Jr. Church Kids Put on the Armor of God

“Triumph” is the new Jr. Church unit for the Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first graders this summer. The unit kicked off on May 6, and as part of the lesson the boys and girls illustrated the parts of armor that they learned about in Ephesians 6:

Belt of Truth
Breastplate of Righteousness
Feet fitted with the Gospel of Peace
Shield of Faith
Helmet of Salvation
Sword of the Spirit

VBS Planning & Orientation Meeting

All leaders and helpers for this year’s Vacation Bible School, as well as those who are interested in helping, are asked to come out for an orientation meeting on Tuesday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “Sky,” and VBS will be held July 16-20, 6:30- 8:00 p.m. Contact Rosalie Schneider or Dave Willauer if you are interested in helping or for more information.

Iron Pigs Tickets – Help!

Due to a miscommunication, we wound up with 10 extra tickets to the Lehigh Vally Iron Pigs baseball game on Sunday, June 3. Six have been taken and four remain. Did you know that PFC makes Equal Exchange, (fairly traded) coffee, tea, cocoa, and almonds available through the Church of the Brethren Coffee Project? Equal Exchange started in 1986 with fairly traded coffee from Nicaragua. Today, Equal Exchange continues to find new ways to build better food systems. Equal Exchange partners with co-operatives of farmers who provide high-quality organic products helping to create stronger local communities, a more just food system, and a healthier planet.

JourneyMen Wind Up Series with Volleyball

Men, here’s your chance to get warmed up for the Family Volleyball Night on May 18!

The JourneyMen group that has been meeting on Tuesday nights and focusing on the topic of “Man-eaters,” will meet one last time for this cycle, on Tuesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. All men of PFC (whether or not you attended JourneyMen) are invited for a night of volleyball and fellowship as a way of kicking back after a study series of some very tough topics. Invite a friend!

Carpet Cleaning

In case you haven’t noticed, the carpets have been used fully during our first six years in our new facility. A professional cleaning of all of the carpet in the church has been scheduled for Saturday, May 26. We are having a teardown “party” on Friday night, May 25 (the night before the “Cleaning of the Carpets”) at 6:30p.m. with pizza. Volunteers are needed! The purpose will be to move as much furniture off of the carpet as possible. Volunteers will also be needed to re-set the furniture on Saturday evening, May 26 at 7:00p.m. Contact Stephanie Wanner or Jim Hollen to volunteer.

All-Church Picnic
